Miami-Dade College Flight Training Partner Wayman has a flight-training partnership with Miami-Dade College’s EIG-Watson School of Aviation. The program’s long history of launching aviation careers in Miami-Dade and contributing to the aviation community is unparalleled. Student pursuing a degree in Professional Pilot Technology Program will receive high quality ground training at Miami-Dade College and complete their in-aircraft flight requirements at Wayman. Students from Miami-Dade will now have convenient cost effective flight training available to them in North Miami. MDC students have always been welcome at Opa Locka Airport. This partnership allows cadets to get full college credit for their flight training. It also allows MDC students to use student financial aid and pell grants to further their flying. Current Wayman students will be elligible to recieve college credit towards a degree based on their FAA certificates. Multi-Engine Training

Multi-Engine Multi-Engine rating opens the gates to new and exciting aircraft. Most high-performance and long-range aircraft have more than one engine. This rating gives you the knowledge necessary to safely and effectively control a multiple engine aircraft with retractable gear. Can I do a Direct to Commercial Multi-Engine Course, without single-engine? Yes, but it requires 20 hours of multi-engine time instead of the standard 15 hours in order to accommodate the commercial cross-country requirements Can I do Multi-Engine as a Private Pilot? Yes, you can be multi-engine rated as a private pilot. This is an excellent option for those flying in the Caribbean where multi-engine aircraft are prevalent. How long will it take to get my Private Multi-Engine Rating? Certification can be accomplished in one week of dedicated flying. Commercial Pilot Training A Commercial Pilot Certificate allows you to fly an airplane for compensation or hire. It is the final capstone of the Professional Pilot Program. At this point your experience behind the yoke could begin paying for itself. The Commercial part 61 training is composed of two simultaneous courses. The single engine course is 10 hours of flight in a Piper Arrow. At the same time students are mastering multi-engine procedures in the Piper Seneca. Students reach the 250 hours and take the single engine commercial flight test. That is immediately followed by a Multi-Engine add on checkride. Piper PA-34 Seneca Piper PA-28R-200 Arrow How long will it take to get my Commercial Pilot License? Full-time students who dedicate themselves to obtaining a commercial pilot’s license can do so within a 4 week period. If you have a regular job and can only dedicate a few hours a week, then it may take about four(4) to six(6) weeks to accomplish it. What kind of Aircraft will I train in? Wayman Flight Training utilities Piper Seneca aircraft with a Garmin 430 system  for multi-engine training. Piper Arrows are flown for commercial single certificates. This is a “complex” aircraft with retractable landing gear and a variable-pitch propeller. The Private Pilot Certificate (PPL) is the first stop into the world of aviation.  It is similar to earning  your Driver’s license. As a private pilot you can fly an airplane and carry passengers (friends, family, co-workers, etc) but not for compensation or hire. However, you can share the operating expenses with your passengers. The private pilot certificate is the first step for those interested in a career in aviation. This extensive training program will give students a solid foundation in aerodynamics, meteorology, and hands-on flight experience. The Initial certification is not something you should rush through. Full time students typically take 6-8 weeks to complete the Private Pilot course.
